I was diagnosed with DCIS last August and had an unsuccessful lumpectomy ( only 2 clean margins). I then decided on bilateral mastectomies with immediate reconstruction. While I had a few emotional ups and downs it was truly the best decision I could have made. I have completed my reconstruction ( I did not have to have radiation or chemo because I did not have any invasive cancer) except for the pigment tattooing on my reconstructed nipples! Dr. Kakkis was my surgeon (SHE IS FENOMINAL!!!) and Dr. Elliott did my plastic surgery. YOu are in excellent hands if you are with any of the doctors at Breastlink! Best of luck to you and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Margo

You are all so wonderful and I can't thank you all enough for your support and smiling faces. If ever any of your patients want to talk about (or even see my new
breasts!!) mastectomy and reconstruction - please know I would be more than happy to help.
Have a great day! See you in January for my next 6 mo. visit!
