I am a 32 year old single mother of one and have just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I feel like my world is falling apart. My daughter is 8 years and and I'm so afraid of what this will do to her. I am scheduled to start neoadjuvant chemo next week and just don't know how to cope with my daughters school schedule, all of my appointments, and just life itself.

Hi, Mindy, I was diagnosed in May with Breast Cancer so far in the first month after my diagnosis I was x-rayed, ultrasounded, biopsied and CAT Scanned On June 28th I had a partial Mastectomy and have completed 6 of 8 cycles of chemo and await radiation after Thanksgiving. Please realize you are not alone. Cancer is nolonger the big "C" word and not a little family secret to hide in the closet. The first thing I did was tell my boss and co-workers, extended family and friends. You will be surprised at how many people will be there for you and your daughter. When ever your friends, co-workers, etc. say "if there is anything I can do to help, let me know". Let them help! Ask them to do your groceries, pick up your dry cleaning, take your daughter to school, the park, for a sleepover, or to just sit there and be with you when the tears flow or to watch a silly movie. There are also many great support groups such as "Reach to Recovery", that will help you through this phase of your life.

I live in Long Beach, CA and if you live locally, I would be more than happy to get in touch with you and be part of your support team.
