While there is a range of breast cancer risk factors patients need to be aware, inheriting a BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutation is considered one of the strongest indications a patient may face a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. Dr. David Conston, our director of breast imaging for Breastlink of Rancho Mirage, was quoted in The Desert Sun’s April 1, 2013 article about the new California breast density law. Passed in 2012 by the California legislature, the new breast density law requires all mammography facilities in California to notify patients if they have dense breast tissue (as identified on a screening mammogram).
