A Multidisciplinary Approach to the Treatment and Management of Breast Cancer:
With a Special Focus on Young Women by Drs Cullinane and Waisman.

Dr. Waisman, one of the pre-eminent breast specialists in the United States, is a medical oncologist who has treated women with breast cancer since mid-1980. He will discuss hormonal therapy and chemotherapy. Dr. Cullinane, one of the first surgical oncologists to be formally trained in cancer genetics, will focus on the genetic aspects of breast cancer, including genetic counseling and testing, imaging, and options for reconstructive surgery. Actual case studies will be used during these presentations. Special attention will be paid to the effects of cancer upon families. Seating is limited. RSVP by calling (310) 376-3550. Melissa Ethridge and her band mates, bass player Mark Browne, guitarist Philip Sayce and drummer Fritz Lewak will be donating instruments played during Melissa's 2006 Summer Tour to benefit a leading breast cancer organization, Breast Cancer Care & Research Fund. Melissa and Philip are each donating a guitar, Marc a bass and Fritz is auctioning off his drum set. All instruments will have been used throughout Melissa's 2006 Summer Tour. Instruments will be autographed by all band members and Melissa!

August: Incorporating Genomics in the management of early stage breast cancer

As part of our commitment to delivering Optimal Care to each woman, Breastlink hosts ongoing staff education sessions. This session sponsored by Genomic Health outlined how genomics, the study of complex sets of genes, their expression, and their functions, can assist in understanding the characteristics of a particular breast cancer diagnosis and therefore assist in tailoring treatment to each individual patient.
