Kids Konnected Support Group
A breast cancer diagnosis can create a sense of uncertainty and fear not just for the women fighting cancer, but also for their families. As part of its commitment to providing comprehensive services to support women with breast cancer, Breastlink has partnered with Kids Konnected to help support the children of cancer patients.
What is Kids Konnected?
Established in 1993 on the premise that entire families are affected when one of their members is diagnosed with cancer, Kids Konnected is a not-for-profit organization operating nationally to provide various support services to the children of cancer patients. These include:
- Support Groups
- 24-Hour Hotline
- Summer Camps
- Youth Leadership Training
- Youth Leadership Peer-to-Peer Mentoring
- Pro Bono Legal Assistance
Kids Konnected’s new partnership with Breastlink provides the children of cancer patients an opportunity to receive support from a non-profit group with a proven track record.
Monthly group meetings are led by Yency Padilla, who began working with Kids Konnected after receiving a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University. She is currently working toward a Doctorate in Marital and Family Therapy at Loma Linda University. Yency works under supervision of the Kids Konnected Clinical Director Lynette Wilhardt, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has specialized in psychotherapy for cancer patients and their families for more than 25 years.
While Breastlink providers and staff will not facilitate the monthly support group meetings, all Breastlink patients and their families are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to receive support during a difficult time. This group is not exclusive to Breastlink families or to breast cancer families. Any family struggling with a cancer diagnosis should consider attending to provide an additional layer of support for their loved ones.

Kids Konnected group meetings will occur once per month at the Breastlink Laguna Hills office and once per month at the RadNet Conference Center in Santa Ana. Support groups are free and open to youth aged 4 to 18 and their parents. We request that attendees RSVP prior to the support group meeting.
