Dr Nancy C. Greep, MD
Internist-Endocrinologist, John Wayne Cancer Institute and Manhattan Beach Breast Center
Nancy Greep graduated from Radcliffe College and obtained her medical degree from Yale and Einstein (1975) Medical Colleges. She did her residency at the University of California, Irvine, and her fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Southern California. She worked for several years as a staff internist at Kaiser Bellflower before joining the faculty of the University of California, Irvine College of Medicine. There she taught clinical medicine and served as a co-investigator on the Women's Health Initiative, a major NIH multi-center study of the effects of hormone replacement therapy and a low-fat, high-fiber diet on the health of postmenopausal women. In 2000, she moved to Los Angeles and joined the John Wayne Cancer Institute, where she serves as the Associate Director of Skeletal Biology and shares oversight of the bone density program at St John's Hospital in Santa Monica. Her research interests include hot flashes, the effect of chemotherapy on bone, hormone replacement therapy, osteoporosis and hyperparathyroidism.
She has been with the MB Breast Center part-time since 1995. At the MBBC she oversees the bone density service and interprets bone density. She is also available for individual consultation on problems related to bone and menopausal health.
As a clinician, she believes in the importance of comprehensive care, and always tries to view a medical problem from the perspective of the patient's total health. As an educator, she recognizes that knowledge is empowering. As a health care provider, she recognizes the importance of access to quality medical care for everyone, and works with local, state and national organizations to achieve that.
